Old Sandman is a minor character seen in the ninth Dark Parables bonus game, The Seven Ravens.
A Keeper of Dreams, the Old Sandman helped Mab cure her brothers of their Ravensbane Curse.
Old Sandman is based on the mythological figure of the Sandman.
Appearance and Personality[]
Old Sandman is a tall, thin man with long grey hair and a matching beard and pale grey skin with blue markings. He wears a hooded, dark purple robe edged with gold patterns and sandals. An hourglass holding glowing blue sand hangs from a rope around his waist and he carries two more in his hand.
Although the Old Sandman's full personality is largely unknown, he is evidently a deeply compassionate man who did everything in his power to cure Mab and her brothers of the Ravensbane Curse.
History[]
After being cursed by the Evil Witch to suffer the Ravensbane Curse like her brothers, Mab sought the help of the Sandmen to break it and through a summoning ritual, brought the Old Sandman to her. Initially annoyed at being summoned in the middle of the day, Old Sandman quickly saw the situation and agreed to help Mab.
First, he casted a spell to prevent Mab from becoming a raven and losing her mind; he then instructed her to bring her seven brothers to Sandmen Village and to gather the ingredients on a scroll needed to complete the ritual. Before Mab left to complete her tasks, Old Sandman urged the girl to heed this warning: every cure comes with a price.
Mab, however, was determined to cure her brothers no matter the cost and was able to bring Old Sandman all he needed for the ritual. After successfully restoring the seven brothers to their human forms, Old Sandman delivered the bad news to Mab: he would not be able to cure her own Ravensbane Curse. But there was a silver lining: he had pleaded to the Moon Goddess to help the girl and she agreed to make Mab a Keeper of Dreams.
